Maxine Simoens in his third season as Azzaro's creative director presented a studio 54 inspired disco look in his couture line. Grace Jones, Bianca Jagger, Cher and the whole party spirit and fun of that time got it's French flavored interpretation to these disco nostalgics.
Strong, Powerful and Sexy! For Couture Week in Paris Alexandre Vauthier presented a very Parisienne polished collection. His suits are sensational, the animal prints give vigor, the ruffles are gargantuan, and there are sequins in neon green and accentuated shoulders. The sleeves are enormous, round, ruffled or draped. There is constriction and structure, and play with shapes and forms. It is moving from polished sharp toward a wilder bloom. It is authoritative and playfully seductive.
In this collection the designer explored clothing construction as architecture yet followed a pursuit of absolute lightness. "Tailleur and Flou" this duality represents the essence of haute couture but what Keller seem to suggest for couture this summer is a more hybrid approach. The designs seemed superfluous with a built in calm grandeur.
Chanel's haute couture show brought the height of summer to snowy Paris. Lagerfeld tried to remake the gardens and spirit of that couture decadence he made flowers in feathers and hand-painted sequins, using even dry flowers dipped in resin, that were embroidered or applied to materials from airy organza, chiffon, and lace, to gleaming leather and the house signature hand-woven tweeds. The lean tailoring focused on a firm, angler shoulder line to the jackets and pencil-skirts that also exploded into kick pleats at the calf . That narrow silhouette was broken occasionally with a flurry or asymmetric ruffles, or loops of fabric or ostrich feather fronds, draped into panniers to suggest an 18th century silhouette a la Pompadour. Only Lagerfeld has the authority to suggest such silhouettes and attributes under the banner of haute couture and mark them extreme beauty.
It was a world so beautiful and cute, with a built in sense of savoir faire, confidence and charm. A world of adventure, a world for the open mind, a field of fantasy seducing everyone who comes near. Waking up that feeling you felt last time you saw the Circus. The Excitement, the adventure, the joy of life.
The magic erupted with the vaporous Cosmic dresses in layers of translucent organza printed with colored clouds by New York based artist Kim Keever, which lent his surrealistic touch to each creation. Equally dramatic was a blue and white mini dress that resembled an alien flower blooming into life, something Bjork might wear.
The collection felt exotic and was an ode to living life to the fullest. That is what matters, that feeling of curiosity and joy for life that we all should share even if we can't afford the luxuries of haute couture, remember that each one of us is like a couture sample, unique, brilliant and ultimately inimitable. A custom made perfection and live each unrepeatable moment from there.
The youngest haute couture customers all over the world swear by his name. They want this kind of beautiful that is both cultivated and cultural, but at the same time looks and feels new, fresh, effortless and fabulous. Each piece is a statement transferring an attitude that says "Go BIG or go home!"
It was like a garden and then a coral reef, an aquatic fusion emerging from the deep blue, shooting like a star toward an entire universe filled with countless stars resembling our nature. A world of fantasy mixed into the mundane. Schiaparellistic indeed!
This collection seems to depict this clash between these two complete opposites. Being a tastemaker at heart, she never fails to express her outlook on the issues at hand, and what is happening in the world now is more of an inspiration that anything. Detecting the political cliché codes is natural the moment you glance upon the combination of styles she proposes, tie dye skirts vs. crystal embellishment, swimsuit tops vs. chiffon blouses. miniskirts vs. tennis skirts, white t-shirt vs. duchess silk satin skirts.
The aesthetic of each garment was tastefully combined in perfect harmony with the entire look. The commanding colors used for the accessories such as bags and shoes were perfectly fused with a more neutral and earthly color tones in the outfits, or the other way around, making this collection a masterful work of art plucked from the landscapes of natures abundant treasury. The clothing's are functional, not just for occasion but clothes for everyday life, for active woman and girls. A real wardrobe that can be easily translated even for the fanciest nights out. It emits class, elegance with a bit of a rebellious side kick stating " I want to be comfortable not just stunning."
